Camier Forced to Retire in Race 2

MV Agusta rider unable to complete the distance after a clutch problem

With Race 2 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca proving a tale of two halves, Leon Camier was sadly only able to see the first lap on the MV Agusta, as the bike suffered a problem with the clutch that saw the Brit pull off the track and forced to retire.

Starting from 12th after topping the Tissot-Superpole 1 session and gaining entry into Superpole 2, Camier got a good start and was running in the top ten before the issue hit and he pulled off track. After a season that has seen Camier threaten the top 5 on many occasions with the MV Agusta, the result proves an anomaly in a season of standout performances and progress for the Italian marque.

“For sure I am very disappointed,” lamented Camier. “Since the warmup we found a good bike setting and in Race2 I am sure I would had the chance to fight for the top 10. Unfortunately, these things happen and all we can do now is stay focused, continue the bike development and get ready for the last races of this Championship.”

Round 10 gets underway at Lausitzring in September after the summer break, with a chance for the paddock to recharge ahead of the final push of the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
